Flickr – Picking

Your browser does not support the Canvas 3D Plug in. Please see our Tutorials on how you can view this demo. In this demo, pictures are applied as textures to the cubes and the cubes can be rotated or zoomed in.

Enter a search term:

How to use:
The canvas has 5 cubes that are untextured. The textures can be applied by entering a search term and pressing get pictures. Pictures are retrieved using the Flickr API and textured to each cube.
A button will appear to fetch the next 5 pictures and texture them to the cubes. The cubes at anytime can be rotated by clicking on the cube and dragging the mouse. If the cube is double clicked on the cube will zoom in and double clicking again the cube will zoom out.

What is Flickr?
Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community platform. It was one of the earliest Web 2.0 applications. In addition to being a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo repository. Its popularity has been fueled by its organization tools, which allow photos to be tagged and browsed by folksonomic means. As of November 2007, it claims to host more than 2 billion images.

A spec change that keeps coming back to haunt me

At some point, the way firefox handles keyboard events changed. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, all I know is that it broke how I was dealing with keyboard interaction on almost every demo I’ve written (for example, the mocap demo and MotionView). When I wrote the demos, the keydown event would be fired once, [...]

Release 2.2

The 2.2 Release of the Canvas 3D Library includes a number of new features, updates to old features and fixes for several bugs along with the requisite changes to meet the evolving WebGL spec.
